In the third and fourth weeks after your operation, you may start eating slightly textured foods with the consistency of baby foods. Protein will be important to help you maintain muscle while you lose weight, so eat protein-rich foods first, then move on to fruits and vegetables.
Examples of what you might eat at this stage include pureed skinless chicken or fish, mashed potatoes, peas, low-fat yogurt or pudding.
Some of these foods may not be acceptable later, but right now it’s more important to let your body heal and adjust than it is to lose weight.
